Background

The Vietnamese Student Association in Trondheim (VSAiT) is a non-profit organization focused on building a strong sense of community among Vietnamese students in Trondheim. It primarily supports students at NTNU and other educational institutions in the city. The association plays a key role in helping Vietnamese students adapt to life in Norway while preserving and promoting Vietnamese culture within the younger generation.

This is achieved through various social events held throughout the academic year. These events offer students opportunities to connect, build friendships, and share cultural traditions, creating a vibrant and inclusive community.

About the project

My role

VSAIT website redesign was a solo project where I took on the role of UX designer, overseeing every stage of the process from start to finish. This included conducting research to understand user needs, crafting the design strategy, creating wireframes and prototypes, and delivering a fully functional and visually appealing platform.

Working independently, I was responsible for defining the goals of the redesign, aligning them with the organization’s mission, and ensuring the final product met both user expectations and VSAiT’s values. I handled all aspects of the project, including user interviews, usability testing, information architecture, and responsive design implementation.

Project result

The result is a modern, user-friendly website that not only strengthens the sense of community among Vietnamese students but also reflects their cultural identity. This project highlights my ability to take ownership of the UX process and deliver impactful solutions in a self-driven environment.

Visual Identity

In Vietnamese culture, red symbolizes luck and happiness, while yellow represents wealth and sophistication in Vietnamese culture. Using these colors in the website design reflects Vietnam's vibrant traditions and conveys prosperity and positivity to users, creating an engaging and culturally rich experience.
